The aim of a skills assessment interview is to identify the following differences between skills available to an employee and the requirements of the position he occupies (as defined by his specifications), to determine the development objectives priorities. This assessment can be carried out as part of a selection process or a development interview (annual appraisal interviewfor example).
It is essential that the job-individual gap observed in this way is clearly identified, objectified and recognised by the various partners. This is necessary if the training and development plan that will be developed is fully appropriated by the individual concerned.
It should be noted that it is also necessary to clearly define what you want to assess. It is often the case that an evaluation of skills leads to an assessment of performancesand vice versa, the two concepts being closely linked.
